Gazelle Sports was established by two men in 1985 who actively pursued, encouraged, and celebrated a healthy lifestyle – and to this day, every Gazelle employee lives that vital mission. Many have become runners, entering 5K and 10Ks, while others have completed marathons or become coaches. Some are cyclers and swimmers, others play tennis, basketball, or soccer. You get the picture. They all move! At Gazelle, moving matters. Gazelle is truly a business moving forward – and while doing so, positively impacting the West Michigan community and our environment.
According to Chris Lampen Crowell, the best part of working at Gazelle is “being surrounded by a fantastic culture of people, staff and customers, that support healthful living.” For partner Jean Sequite who joined Gazelle in 1990, “working with a a talented and diverse staff and the challenge of our mission statement” is what she likes best about her leadership role at Gazelle. Ken Sung, part of the executive team since 1989, thoroughly enjoys interacting with Gazelle’s staff, customers, and vendors.
Gazelle Sports operates three retail stores in West Michigan as well as Team Gazelle, the team sports division. It also runs New Balance Grand Rapids store in Grandville. Gazelle’s sphere of influence extends throughout West Michigan and beyond, offering free in-store clinics, several weekly running groups, and training programs to prepare for big events like the Gazelle Girl Half Marathon or River Bank Run.
