O’Connor’s Home Brew Supply

O’Connor’s Home Brew Supply is the only one of its kind in a town deemed Beer City USA for the second year in a row. From the day it opened, the warm, genuine personalities of the staff and the comfortable, inviting atmosphere of the store have earned it a reputation of the best place to go for brew supplies and friendly assistance.

A husband and wife team, Ben and Allison O’Connor, started up the business in 2011. He’s originally from the midwest and she’s from the south. Ben loves beer and Allison was in need of a career change.

O’Connor’s opened shortly after Ben and Allison made the move from Raleigh, North Carolina to Grand Rapids. Their original store, just a few doors down from where the shop is now, and only three blocks from their home, made sense to them. However, O’Connor’s quickly outgrew the small space. Luckily, they were able to stay in the neighborhood and expand the shop to better serve customers.

At O’Connor’s, they’re committed to providing home brew supplies for people who make beer, wine, cider, mead, and soda at home. They encourage customers to ask questions. As Allison says, “We concentrate on one area of expertise and we do it very well. We are open, honest, and helpful. There’s no beer snobbery here.”

Beyond O’Connor’s commitment to their business, they are avid sports fans, loyal to University of Michigan, North Carolina State, and Detroit teams.
